Tijs Visser was head of exhibitions at the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf (2001-08). He is the founding director of the ZERO foundation (2008-17). He initiated and curated the ZERO exhibitions at the Guggenheim New York (2015), the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Martin Gropiusbau in Berlin, the Sabanci Museum in Istanbul (2016) and the Museum of Old and New Art is Tasmania. With the O-INSTITUTE he continues the research, which started in 2005 with the Nul- and in 2008 with the ZERO archive, into the international ZERO Avant-garde from the sixties.
0-institute
The 0-institute focuses on projects with historical and contemporary art, with an international network of prominent writers, researchers, and producers. The 0-institute is specialised in reconstructing ideas, installations, works, historical exhibitions, and has the "archeology's" ability to tell stories that reach beyond official or formal discourse.

The Institute for Contemporary Archeology (ICA) is his ongoing research project, which started in 2005 with the Nul- and in 2008 with the ZERO archive.
